ORG5003 treats change as something you diagnose before you design. The course moves from reading structure, power and culture to sequencing an intervention that has owners, a first move, and an honest account of who will push back and why.

How this shelf works

Send the exact assignment or rubric from your classroom and a custom sample written to it lands in 24 to 48 hours, the first one free. ORG5003 is ACE’s Organizational Dynamics & Change Management course. It centers on reading a firm's structure, power and culture before you touch it, then sequencing a change that names its owners and its resistance. What ORG5003 is really about

ORG5003 is the MBA course about what happens to a firm when someone tries to alter it. The dynamics half is diagnostic: structure and reporting lines, formal and informal power, subcultures that do not share the executive view, and the systems that quietly reward the behavior leadership says it wants to end. The change half is procedural: models such as Lewin, Kotter and the ADKAR framework, and the far harder question of which one fits the firm in front of you. The course is built around the gap between those halves, because most failed change programs were competently designed for a company other than the one they were run in.

Cases carry the course: you are usually handed a firm in trouble, or a merger, or a restructure, and asked what is actually going on inside it before anyone proposes a fix. In many sections the arc opens with organization theory and design, moves through culture and power, reaches resistance and communication, and closes on an implementation plan for a chosen organization. Discussions tend to run on real corporate examples where the change is public record and the outcome is known, which makes hindsight cheap and diagnosis the only thing worth writing. The recurring instruction is to say what you would have seen at the time, not what the press said afterward.

What ORG5003’s assessments ask for

Two movements are required, and the order between them is not optional. First a diagnosis: what the structure is, where decisions really get made, which groups hold informal influence, what the culture rewards, and what evidence in the case supports each claim. Then a plan: a named change model, a defense of why that model suits this firm, and a sequence of moves with an owner and a first ninety days attached to each. Resistance gets its own section, and it is expected to be answered rather than deplored. Assignments often ask for a communication approach broken out by group, because the message that persuades a plant supervisor is not the message that persuades a regional director.

Where students lose points in ORG5003

Points come off when the change plan arrives before the diagnosis. The most common version is a paper that opens with a chosen model and bends the firm to fit it, so the intervention answers a problem nobody in the case actually has: a communication push aimed at a firm whose real trouble is that two divisions have incompatible incentives. The second is resistance written as a character flaw. Employees who object are telling you something about workload, job security or a previous change that was announced and then abandoned, and a paper that calls them change-averse has thrown that information away. The third is a plan with no sequence and no names, where every action is simultaneous and nobody owns anything.

Using a ORG5003 sample the right way

Read a sample for its order of operations first. Notice how many paragraphs go by before the model is named, and how much of the diagnosis is carried by evidence taken from the case rather than by adjectives about culture. That ratio between evidence and model is the part worth copying, and the sample firm is not. A sample built on a manufacturer with a strong union and a merger behind it will not transfer to a fast-growing software business, and the resistance you have to answer is specific to yours. Take the sequencing habit, the way owners are assigned, and the citation pattern. Build the diagnosis from your own case.

How these samples are written

Every sample on this grid is written the way the custom ones are: the rubric decoded row by row, the three-gate discipline applied, instructions, rubric, originality, and format shipped exact. ACE revises courses; a custom request is always written to the rubric in YOUR classroom, never from a stale template.

ORG5003 questions, answered

How do I show I diagnosed the firm instead of assuming it?

By quoting the case back at yourself. Every structural or cultural claim should point to something specific: a reporting line, a decision that took six months, a metric two departments argue over, a turnover pattern in one division only. Three evidenced observations beat a page of general description. If a claim would fit any firm, cut it.

What does it mean to treat resistance as information?

It means asking what the objection is correct about. Frontline staff often resist because the new process adds work nobody removed, or because the last three changes were reversed. Write the objection in its strongest form, say what it reveals about the design, then adjust the plan or explain plainly why you will not. Dismissal is not an answer.

How detailed does the implementation sequence need to be?

Detailed enough that someone could start Monday. Each move needs a person or role accountable, a rough position in the order, and a stated dependency on whatever must happen first. Say which move is irreversible and which is a pilot you would stop. A list of phases with no owners reads as a wish, not a plan.
